Based on the background, I think it's Shelsley Walsh. Dorothy Stanley-Turner ran an MG there at the September 1937 meeting. Other ladies mentioned in the Motor Sport report are Kay Petre (obviously not her!), Mrs Bolster (née Skinner - not her either!), Joan Richmond (no, again) and - my suggestion - Marjorie Eccles.

Not sure if the same lady. Helmet does not help.
All the best.

I'm not sure if it's Marjorie Eccles. The woman on the left in the original picture has a centre or right-hand parting in her hair,
whereas Marjorie Eccles has a left-hand parting with thicker hair. Also she appears to be a fair bit more robust in stature!
I think it could be Joan Richmond, in a less formal situation than a posed photo. She has shorter, finer hair (looking a bit wind-swept in this case) and is more slender in build.

Dear forum members, I have the photobook from Dorothy ST in my archive with with most original pictures, never published, from racing and rallying in MG cars. I know it is very special! for a very very good bid I will thinking to loose the book.

I always enjoy looking through the "seeking information about a picture" forum and, just by chance came across the picture forwarded by Sam Christie/Ted Hack at the start of this topic. The photo appears in "Fast Ladies, 1880 - 1970" by Jean Francois Bouzanquet. On p89 it shows the same photo with the caption: "Dorothy Stanley Turner with Yvonne Morel at Chrystal Palace in front of their MG, 11.August 1938. (JFB collection).

But, I cannot answer Mike's question above, "who is the (lucky) mechanic"!
