I am a new member and need to be inducted in the black arts of MMM ownership, how does one put petrol in the NA, I have done it twice and it comes back at you, such is my paranoia I take a petrol proof large piece of material which I fit over the petrol pipe to avoid damage. Please what is the secret |

Derek If slowly and carefully are black arts then that is what you have to learn. Petrol enters the tank via a long(ish), kinked neck and you have to squeeze the fuel pump trigger just a little or, as you have experienced, it quickly trips out spitting petrol on you and the rear wing. Yes, it takes a while to master filling up your tank but that's one of its 'characteristics'!! Terry |

thank you Terry, I must be more patient, I use Shell best in all my cars, is it suitable for the NA? have tried to find leaded petrol but no joy other than a firm who supply leaded for race cars. |

Challenge yourself to get the nozzle at the right angle on the hole (Carry On Filling) so that you can get 1/4 of a pull on the trigger. I once filled my whole tank in 10 minutes.

Hi , when I had my NA, I removed the complete filler cap and tube to the tank, then silver soldered a 5/16th inch copper pipe bent to the shape internally, tank top to filler cap and problem solved. good luck, Nick.

You could try using a short piece of rubber hose And it will allow air into the tank.

how would you use the rubber hose, slip it in followed by pump nozzle ?, I tend to go to the forecourt with petrol cans then back home and fill tank from the cans via cranked funnel |

The problem is the shape and route the hose takes from the filler to the tank. I'm still scarred from when I had to fit it after painting. Etched into my memory.
