Most readers of this forum will know, or know of Richard Hardy, the owner of Vintage MG Parts, a respected manufacturer and supplier for some 14 years of standard and specialist Triple-M car components to the Triple-M community.

A year ago Rich made a posting on our Forum which appeared to contain an allegation of unethical behaviour. As the posting breached the published guidelines under which the Forum operates, the Register committee took a decision to take down the posting and to close the thread. The Committee also withdrew Rich's facility to post to the Forum for a period of 3 months and informed him of this. This restriction was lifted many months ago.

In the days following Rich's post a Forum posting was made on behalf of the committee stating that Rich had apologised for his original posting. That statement was made in the belief that it represented what Rich had said to the committee Chairman and Secretary, but we now accept and acknowledge that there genuinely was a misunderstanding about this. Rich had not apologised for his original posting and thus the posting the committee made was erroneous. (Unfortunately Rich was unable to comment on this particular point, as his Forum embargo was running at the time.)

In recent months members of the committee have engaged extensively with Rich with the aim of dealing with any issues that prompted or had resulted from his posting. We hope that this public apology will enable all to restore the harmonious relationship which had existed with him prior to the occurrence.

The committee has a number of regrets which arise from this episode, including making the erroneous statement mentioned above, for which we apologise, as we also do for any distress or offence that may have been caused to Rich. We also regret that it has taken so long to bring matters to some sort of conclusion. We sincerely hope that this posting will do so.

The committee wishes to consider the matter closed and we have no desire to promote or attract any further comment from Forum subscribers or others on the matter. There are lessons which all of us can learn about the proper etiquette that should apply when using social media of any kind.

The Committee will welcome a constructive ongoing association with Vintage MG Parts as we do with all other recognised suppliers of parts and services who sustain Triple-M owners. The MGCC Triple-M Register exists to support owners, which is what brings us all together.

On behalf of the Triple-M Register committee

Good evening Dick, the rest of the committee and of course, all MMM enthusiasts around the globe.

Thank you Dick for your posting.

Members of the committee and particularly John Summers, Elizabeth Taylor and Tim Luffingham have, over recent months, all been working hard behind the scenes in trying to bridge what had become a rather fractious and difficult impasse.

As of this evening, I am please to confirm that I am able to accept Dick's contrite apology, issued on behalf of the committee to the MMM Register.

I share Dick's desire that the matter be now considered hereby resolved and closed. As Dick highlights, both the MMM Committee and I respectfully request that this topic subject generates no further contributions from any members / readers.

I and, Vintage MG Parts, very much look forward to working closely with the MMM Committee over the next year and beyond, in terms of new initiatives for enhanced promotion of the MMM movement, camaraderie and, support for the pre-war MG enthusiast.

Yours octagonally

Rich
