I've just stumbled upon the attached photograph (on Facebook) of the three PAs before setting sail for LeMans 24 hours in 1935. Where can I read more details of their exploits please? Where did they sail from (the back of my mind says Fowey or Charlestown down in Cornwall, but I could be way off the mark there!!) where did they sail to, and what route did they take? Where did they stay leading up to the 24 hour race? Lot's of questions sorry.

Answers to the questions asked by Colin viz. where did they sail from/to , which route did they take , where did they stay etc could be the foundation of a commerative tour in 2025 , 90th anniversary of their entry , by Triple M cars , I would suggest. I was part of a similar tour and visit to Le Mans in 2009 to commerate the entry of Ted Lund in his Twin Cam MGA. He drove there three years in succession. We visited two chateaux that he and his team stayed in , even meeting the , then , 60 + year old family member who had been a 10 year old boy at the time . His over 90 year old mother who remembered the occasion in 1959 was still in the chateau but not well enough to meet us all . It was also the 50th anniversary of my wife and I driving to Le Mans in Ted’s old PB special in 1959 hoping to meet up with him , which we never did . Article in 1990 Yearbook for some details . |

indeed 2025 being the 90th Anny of their escapades has raised my curiosity regarding the when / where / how type questions Ray

Does anyone know what headlamps were used on the Le Mans P types as illustrated in Colin’s picture above? Thanks, Chris |

Hi Chris The section in "Maintaining the Breed" covering the preparation of these cars implies standard lamps just fitted with stone guards (Le Mans style of course) Regards Keith

Chris in all the photos I found, the Le Mans P-types had black headlights. Except on the picture below, and I can't tell who inserted the text on this photo. Gerhard

Sorry Chris, I just notice, that the Dancing Daughters had the staring No's 55-56-57, so the No.54 in my last post, obviously started at a different occasion. Gerhard |

It is sometimes hard to know when LeMans regulations came and went because cars may not have been prepared just for that year. Certainly the black frames were important in 1930 with 18watt headlamps on the two M's entered, although I think this pic is actually from Spa.
