Hello Tom. With regard to your advert in which you require a Scintilla Magneto, I have a spare complete unit type NV6 available for sale. It is fitted with a new Scintilla cap and the drive unit is suitable for MG. The magneto has not run for some time and may need attention to the coils. Price £275 plus carriage. Powerplus

Hello, Tim. You can change the operation of a Scintilla magneto by reversing the laminated discs in the base and changing the cam, these are marked either ‘L’ or ‘R’. Chris |

Hello, Tim. These magnetos are quite straightforward to work on. I rebuilt mine with a new coil and condenser and it makes a good, strong spark. Scintilla magnetos are super machines. Here are a couple of pictures of the NV6 on my N type engine, note you should have a cam stamped with an ‘L’.( NOT ‘R’) I would recommend ARMOTO in Chesterfield for any work on your magneto. Regards, Chris

I see there is a 6 cyl magneto in the forthcoming Richard Edmonds auction (best Google) Lot No 443, if you have not found one.

Anyone that finds themselves with a rogue "R" cam PM me and I should be able to arrange a swap having gone the opposite way at least twice ("R" is for Riley). |

Hello, Duncan. Do I understand you have a cam marked ‘L’ which is available? I may have a spare ‘R’ cam to swap. Cheers, Chris |
