This is a crop from a photo of the start of the 1935 County Down Trophy race in Bangor (won by Malcolm Fleming in PA0456)

Any suggestions as to what model the M.G. might be?

I think you’re right, Dave. My technical adviser pointed out to me that the chrome bonnet flash, clearly visible in the photo, is unique to the CC.

This is the photo it came from - the start of the 1935 County Down Trophy race with two Alfa Monzas leading from the off.

I agree that is a Continental Coupé and the chrome bonnet flash confirms it.

We know that the CC proved hard to sell with the last ones not being sold until, according to the Profile on this site, 1936. Where would the unsold cars have languished pending sale? Presumably they weren’t stored at Abingdon so were dealers 'persuaded' to take them and put them in their showrooms? And if so, would they have been expected to buy them or did they remain as stock on Abingdon's books?
