A visit to Nuffield Place, now part of the National Trust, might provide a clue? Everything has been preserved including the mini workshop set up in the wardrobe cupboard in the main bedroom.

There is a chrome plated MG flip-calendar featured on page 153 of MG Collectibles by Michael Ellman-Brown if that helps.

I have a couple of desk top items in front of me now, I don't smoke but the ashtray looks good as does the blotter.
