'Letter of Intent', even for a Small Claims Court?

Though this one looks to be going towards and possibly over its limit!

Just a quick update. I had some good advise from another member (thanks Andy) to have my hard drive with all the info on, checked out by a professional IT company. They have (thank god) managed to retrieve all my old emails. Now that I have these, this morning I have sent a mail to this company asking them to return my block within 21 days, or other action will follow. This is the first step.
Ian, what do you think the block is worth, the limit on the Small Claims Court is £10K! Do you think that my block is worth more?
Paul.

That's good news Paul, and a great start!

My thought was that the 'Letter of Intent' would signal that your claim could exceed this amount, and you can use phrases such as 'indicatively over £10,000 plus any expenses awarded by the Court'. That should be a 'head's up'!

A point to bear in mind , if the claim goes over £10000, then I believe costs are also awarded.

Just in case the block has been sold on to someone else, at least here in the US, that puts that buyer in possession of stolen property (regardless of whether or not they paid for it). That should provide additional incentive for the current possessor to take themselves out of jeopardy.

The wise person who inadvertently and innocently finds that they have possession of the block would be wise to return it to the person they bought it from and demand immediate repayment, supported by the threat of civil action for restitution if they are not reimbursed.

At that point they would be wise to notify the original writer of this thread, of the situation.

A well done from me also, lets us hope the other party act swiftly to rectify a very sorry saga.

Ian's suggestion of a letter of intent is a very good one.

Best of luck

Apologies for moving this thread at such a late stage but it really should not be in "Parts Wanted". No idea why I didn't move it sooner.
Paul - good luck with finding your block.

No problem Nick...I put in the parts wanted section because I really wanted my block back. Once again I appreciate all the advise given and will update as it goes along.
Paul.
