Can someone please help with information? The MG5869 car was probably bought by Mr. Nott, London SW20. Later it was a wedding present. The photo is from a family album from that time.

Hi Robert,
I believe this is a T Type (though I have very limited knowledge about them). John James is likely to be able to find out more.

Definitely a T type - the Registration is not in the printed Register.

Garry. This would indicate prewar. The flag would hardly be displayed post 1945!

I've seen the swastika being carried on several pre war Triple-M pics. Something to do with the young owners taking their cars on their 'customary' European Tour. I do know there was a strong bond between England and Germany in the 1930s and I have heard say it was carried as a sort of honour badge. Happy to be corrected/supplemented!
Cheers Cat

An observation on a previous comment:
Not all beam axle T-types had centre laced wheels.
TAs were fitted with side laced wheels up to chassis number TA1769, which was built on 06/10/37.
MG 5869 may not have survived, but is likely to be a 1938 car.
TA2313, built 05/04/38 carried registration mark MG 5885.This car has survived and is on the road.

THANKS to everyone for the contributions and answers.
The picture comes from the family album of Mr. Hans Zechmeister from Austria. The car was given to his father for his grandfather's wedding. That was around 1936 ... (or as John explains, 1938). In the photo you can see the English license plate MG 5869. You can also see the swastika from that time, as noted by Cathelijne.
The car was later registered in Austria with the number ST 53.054. ST = Steiermark (Styria) (a federal state in Austria) and the town of Bad Aussee. There are also pictures here that I send to the register.
Mr. Mr. Hans Zechmeister writes: I assume the buyer in England will have been my grandfather: Charles Nott 28 Conway Road London SW20
The car was sold in Bad Aussee in the late 1950s, but perhaps not until the early 1960s. Sold almost certainly to a buyer from the area in Vienna / Austria. The son was then a student at the Bad Aussee grammar school.
It would be nice if there were registration data for the English license plate MG 5869. Of course, if the car still exists. The location of the car and the chassis number. As always, I am grateful for ANY help.
